On the 8th November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan made landfall on the Philippines. A Category 5 typhoon with winds up to 270km/hr, it was the deadliest Philippine typhoon on record and the strongest storm recorded on landfall. It caused mass destruction in central Philippines, particularly in the islands of Samar and Leyte.
